About Us

We are the UAE Trekkers – a passionate group of hikers, climbers, nature lovers, and aspiring mountaineers. We are a welcoming and inclusive group and our members include those of all ages and abilities, from beginner trekkers to aspiring mountaineers. We also offer many hikes and treks for families and teens. Our overarching goal is to gradually climb bigger and bigger mountains, learn new skills and push ourselves farther than we thought we could ever dream of. We work towards these goals together, and each year, recycle through our favorite hikes and mountains, and slowly add bigger and more challenging ones. Joining UAE Trekkers is joining a team – not signing up for a trip with a travel agency.

We offer trekker-specific training events in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and soon, in Al Ain. These training sessions have bigger goals than just some exercise – they are team building, friend making, limit pushing sessions. The mountains, deserts and wadis of UAE and Oman are our training ground, and hiking here is an adventure like no other. There are no marked trails and no maps, and the weather conditions can alter the routes we take. We like to think this is all part of the fun! Explore beautiful scenery. Push yourself beyond your known limits, or join one of our family-friendly treks with the UAE Trekkers.

PHYSICAL PREPARATION: Sport -specific training opportunities

Sport specific training is critical for your success in trekking and climbing any mountain. This is why the train, trek travel includes the weekly stairs and ski slope training in additional to weekend recreational hikes that will train the level of endurance required in your international trek of Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, or Mt Elbrus. Hiking for 6-8 hours, uphill, carrying a heavy pack requires endurance and strength.  Our training sessions are unique and well known for pushing you past what you thought was your limit!

GEAR PREPARATION:  More than just the kitlist!

Physical training is the most essential aspect of your trek preparation, but you will also need the right gear. Where other companies will give you a kitlist and meet you at the airport, we make a tremendous effort to make sure you get the right gear specific to your trek and weather you can expect on your trek. We make sure you know how to pack efficiently and know when and how to use different items in your kit, and understand when and why you use them. We make sure you understand what you need to buy and ensure you buy only what you need, and even help find you used gear or loaned gear, using the resources we have.

MENTAL PREPARATION.  The Itinerary is just the beginning.

Where other companies send you the itinerary, we take it further. You will have 2 in -person team briefings with your team prior to departure where you will learn about what to expect every day, and most importantly, how to recognize the symptoms of altitude sickness in yourself and your team mates, how to prevent them and deal with them.  As you complete this briefing with your team, you will travel knowing that you are all prepared with the same information, which helps you support each other on your summit push.
