The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a famous 4 to 5-day hike in the Annapurna mountain range in Nepal. It takes a moderate level of fitness to complete, and the max elevation is 3,210 meters (so there’s no real risk of altitude sickness).  It will be a little cold, so you will need cold weather gear.

Day 1 – Nayapul to Tikhedunga

You will take a quick flight from Kathmandu do Pokhara and start trekking the same day. Tea houses, minimal fuss, easy to get gear together and it won’t bee too cold.

Starting at about noon from Pokhara.  Easy first day trekking.  After arriving in the village of Tikhedunga, check into a beautiful lodge with a nice view and the sound of a waterfall in the distance.

Total trekking time – about 5-6 hours  taking it easy!

Day 2 – Tikhedunga to Ghorepani

6 am start. Challenging hike day. Steeper,  for about 4 hours, catching glimpses of the white snow capped Annapurna peaks. After lunch and an hour of rest, we continue hiking. After about 3 hours we reach the old Ghorepani village.

Total hiking hours – about 7-8 hours

Day 3 – Ghorepani to Poon Hill, Ghorepani to Gandruk

At 5 am rise and shine to enjoy the sunrise! This is the view that the entire Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is based upon, and it’s worth every step to get there. After a rewarding sunrise at Poon hill, we head  down to Ghorepani for a quick breakfast, then we pack and continue our trek to Gandruk

Total hiking hours – about 10-12 hours

Day 4 – Gandruk to Deurali

The trail mostly downhill, and mostly stone steps.  Total hiking time – about 10 hours

Trek Day 5 – Deurali back to Pokhara

After reaching Pokhara, we catch a flight to Kathmandu where we can spend few  hours shopping in Thamil street before heading back
