uae trekkers is a pioneer ...
in the trekking and adventure travel industry of the UAE, a leader in providing unique outdoor hiking experiences for locals and expats since 2011. In the UAE, we serve over 5000 self-registered members and collaborate in local sponsored events. In Oman and beyond, we partners with the best professional international trekking guides to bring you the greatest possible experience in each country and the best chance to successfully summit mountains.
We understand the need to cater to your experience and comfort level with the outdoors. That's why we meet you where you're at -- with our range of difficulty-level treks for groups of 20-30 people in the mountains of the UAE and Oman every weekend. For beginners, we offer a great introduction into the world of trekking and mountaineering which eventually leads them to join expeditions in countries with bigger, harder mountains.
Weekend treks can last from single day hikes to full weekend excursions. Though hiking is always at the core of activity itineraries, multisport treks are not uncommon and can include (but are not limited to) canyoning, rock climbing, wadi swimming, snorkeling in the sea, mountain biking, kayaking, and via ferrata, depending on the location. To make these experiences accessible to everyone, we offer gear loans in the form of backpacks, water- reservoirs, and even hiking shoes for the occasional out of towners.
Amy Subaey | Founder + CEO
Amy has climbed the mountain of Kilimanjaro 6 times and has been climbing at least 4 high altitude mountains per year for the last 5 years. Last year included Labouche Peak (6145 m), Yalla Peak (5780m) and Everest Base Camp in Nepal, Sto Kan Gri in India (6100m), as well as Kilimanjaro and Mt Elbrus and Mt Rainier. She is also trained in Outdoor First Aid, and as a former lifeguard repeated this training multiple times.

What makes us
We pride ourselves on upholding the highest safety standards of any hiking group in the UAE, planning hikes in a responsible and organized way. How do we do this? We guarantee the following safety guards on every UAE Trekkers trip:
- Certified guides
- Multiple exhaustive first aid kits
- Satellite phones
- Multiple two-way radios that enable groups to communicate throughout the trip
- GPS Tracking system and SPOT Tracker
Additionally, all the trips we offer have been vetted by UAE Trekkers staff. We do not offer trips that our guides have not been on before. Thus, our guides know the correct routes and have fail-safes if the group goes off track (radios, GPS, etc).
📋Reputation and Track Record
Since its inception, UAE Trekkers has trained and accompanied 14 teams (between 8 and 15 trekkers) to the Summit of Kilimanjaro and other mountains in the region. The feedback from clients always reflects how essential and valuable the training program is to their overall success and enjoyment of the trek.
We have also taken teams successfully to the other high altitude mountains including:
- Turkey, Mt Ararat (5265m)
- Iran, Mt Damavand (5895m)
- Russia, Mt Elbrus (5675 m)
- Nepal, Everest Base Camp and Labouche Peak, Annapurna Base Camp
- Uganda and Rwanda, Mt Karasimbi, Gorilla Tracking
- Kyrgystan, Lenin’s Peak (7119 m)
👥Diverse Staff and Cliental
UAE Trekkers prides itself on the diversity of our clients and staff on all adventures. We accomodate trips of people with multiple nationalities, cultural backgrounds and occupations: Most of our treks include trekkers of at least 7 -9 different nationalities. We can manage and satisfy the varying demands required of nationalities and levels of understanding before and while on the adventure. We believe in the power of diversity to bring people together, especially when coupled with the beauty of nature.
💪local employment & support staff
On our local and international trips we always employ members of the local community. We believe it is a key part of being a responsible traveler and adventurer to not just take from a community, but to give back to them as well. That is why on our trips we employ locals, visit community centers and even sometimes participate in volunteer-tourism to empower locals. We participate in ongoing community development projects on our trips around the world, our clients are an integral part of supporting communities in a sustainable way.
💦all fitness levels
We offer a broad range of adventures around the world; from mountaineering in the high-altitude mountains of the Himalayas to Dhow cruises on the tip of the Arabian coast. Whether you enjoy a challenging experience or something more relaxing, whatever your fitness level we have the perfect trip for you. Most of our climbers on Kilimanjaro have zero climbing, trekking, or hiking experience, and sometimes no fitness whatsoever. This is not an obstacle. Our regular Kilimanjaro program is marketed as “From Couch to Kilimanjaro in 3 months”. We understand and cater to the demands of people who have never done something like this. Our reputation for being supportive, encouraging, and motivating is unmatched and is backed with personal testimonials and positive reviews.
👪group preparation & team building
The guiding concept of UAE Trekkers is to be the exact opposite of a travel agency, where people just sign up and get on the plane, to one where the entire team has thoughtfully considered the seriousness of the journey for months in advance, and therefore put in the appropriate training and preparation together.
Beginners and less fit clients can start from zero, without any assumption of previous experience. Our reputation for being supportive, completely nonjudgmental, encouraging and motivating is unmatched and is backed with personal testimonials and positive reviews. We manage and satisfy the varying demands required of nationalities and levels of understanding by crossing cultural boundaries and forming lifelong bonds.
We develop a specific, tailored program for trekking generally and Kilimanjaro specifically that enable you to be both mentally and physically prepared for the journey ahead. We have developed a program that includes activities that builds the right muscles, skills and mental fortitude required for novice and beginning mountaineers to reach the summit.

Nothing helps refresh the mind and motivate creative thinking like escaping from the daily routine of the office and city while building camaraderie between coworkers. Although everyone associates the UAE with the desert, the mountains are just as spectacular. Driving out of the city and seeing them on the approach en route to an exhilarating adventure is a stimulating and exciting way to spend a day!
"This was the best experience ever. The camel riding was just mind blowing, pinching yourself to make sure it was real. We got to hang out with the local camel leading boys and enjoy some true Omani hospitality. If you want a true desert experience this is it."
- Carolyn Rogers
"Great trip with beautiful scenery everywhere . Well organized from start to end . Would not be able to visit all the places we visited in such a short trip . A true eye opener to the beauty of Oman . Thank you UAE trekkers."
- Rania Awad
"The dhow trip to Kumzar was an incredible experience, not your regular dhow cruise! We kayaked through phosphorescent water, did yoga on pristine beaches, and snorkeled through amazing korals. Such an enjoyable time!"
- Hannah Khalil
"As a beginner hiker, I was really nervous to start hiking, but UAE Trekkers made me feel safe and ready for the challenge of the Wadi Shah hike. It was tough but the guides were great and ultimately I made it to the top of the farm houses, a great feeling."
- Sophia Grifferty
"I have done this trip twice now and would definitely go back again. These are amazing Wadi’s that need to be seen and experienced. The water is so clear and refreshingly cool. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and adds to the adventure. Definitely would recommend that you do this trip."
