4-Day Mountaineering Course in Kazakhstan
Learn the fundamentals and essentials of mountain and ice climbing. This course will be limited to 5 participants and the guides will meet you at your current level, whatever that is. They are super experienced and professional experts. You will feel very safe and will get incredible hands on practical experience that you can use in any mountain that involves technical gear.
We leave late Tuesday evening, on a Wednesday 2 am flight. We arrive at 4 am on Wednesday morning to get a few hours sleep and be on the mountain the same day we arrive.

We will arrive in Almaty at 3:50am, collect our luggage, clear customs and head to the hotel where we will rest. We will be picked up and shuttled 40 minutes to reach our first training destination on the rocks. Here we will begin our the first day of our course.
Specifically we will learn/practice:
Special knots; harness and individual climbing set
Ropes, coiling and carrying the rope
Basics of rock climbing, rules and elements
Fixed rope ascending; rappelling, and
Personal safety (rope connection, running self-belay).
Then we head up to overnight at the Club Alpine Hut at 2600m. This is our home for the next few days.
After a hearty breakfast, we will begin our rock course on the rocks in Touyuk-Su 40 min from the hut. Specifically we will learn/practice
Fixed rope ascending/descending with Prusik sling
Simple belaying methods (using body and natural objects)
Belaying with special devices and equipment
Traditional climbing: self-anchoring
Lunch will be on the rocks and after the course (5-6 hours), we will return to the hut for dinner and overnight stay.
Today we will go onto Manshuk Mametova glacier (3600m) or on the side moraine (depending on the trail conditions) for glacier training. We’ll focus on:
Using ice-axe; self-arrest on the snow slopes
Glacier traveling methods
Glacier safety: fixation of the partner's falling (into crevasse), re-directing of the load
Traveling by the icy slopes with crampons and ice-axe
Lunch on the glacier. Get back to the hut after a course, dinner and overnight.
On our final day, we will complete the mountaineering course on the rocks near the hut. Specifically we will learn/practice:
Reviewing of special equipment for anchoring (stoppers etc.)
Anchoring on rocks (making pitches, stations, points)
Traditional climbing/putting own points and stations (running belay)
Descending of the last partner
Late in the afternoon we will return to the hut, pack our belongings, and get drop off at a hotel in Almaty.
This morning we will get up early to catch a 4:50 am flight to Dubai.
