This wind swept plateau is a window into the past. The trek begins in the cooler afternoon hours. We will start down a well worn but rocky trail, just long enough to warm up until we start the uphill ascent for around 30 minutes. Its a great workout if you’re in shape, but a breathless exhausting climb if you’re not. We will wander round the ‘modern’ village to admire the view before descending into an eerie abandoned village in Wadi Shahah. Trekking time will not be more than 2 1/2 hours total. The terrain is rocky, with a few opportunities to scramble. Sturdy trekking shoes are a must!
The trailhead is in the mountains of Jabal Jais, reachable with any saloon car with no off road patches.
3:00pm is our meeting time and we will all drive to the trailhead, starting at 3:30pm. The location is in RAK, about 3 hours from Abu Dhabi and 1.5 from Dubai. You will be finished by 5:30 pm.
