Turtle Time! Tiwi, Shabb and Turtles

Wadi Shabb

Wadi Shabb

This amazing family friendly adventure in Oman begins the minute your guide picks you up at the airport. Arriving late Thursday night, you’ll get a good night’s sleep before an early morning departure to Wadi Shabb.

Wadi Shabb is a wonderful light canyoning experience as we make our way to a keyhole cave. Inside the cave you’ll be delighted by a wonderful surprise! Lots of hiking and swimming on our way to the destination. No need to worry about getting tired in the water however, as we provide noodles for every to float on.

Later in the day, we’ll drive to Sur for an Omani style lunch. Seated around shared plates of rice and grilled meat, you’ll feel totally immersed in the culture. Continuing to our hotel in Ras al Jinz we’ll swim, rest and clean up before getting ready to leave for the Turtle Reserve where we’ll view the turtles coming on shore and laying their eggs. A local park ranger will guide us through the nesting grounds.

Saturday we awake to another action packed day. After breakfast we’ll go down to the shore to meet our boat captain. He’ll take us to a secluded cove where if we’re lucky, we’ll see some baby turtles hatch! Otherwise, we’ll spend some time snorkeling in the the isolated coves and searching for crabs.

We’ll return back to our hotel before lunch, clean up, and stop at another local restaurant on our way back to Muscat. Depending on flight schedules, there is often enough time to stop at the Muttrah Souk. Limit: 24 people
